Bandits at 11 o'clock!

In deference to his royal scrobleness I will now let all you wannabee heroes of the skies have the words to the Dambusters march. I used to sing it with my compatriots in the school choir up in the posh end of the pool so come on - you all know the tune - it goes like this:

Proudly, with high endeavour,
we, who are young forever,
won the freedom of the skies.
We shall never die!!!

We who have made our story
Part of our country's glory
Know our hearts will still live on
while Bri - tons - fly. dedede de de de (and back to the top)

You have to stand to attention while you sing it - perhaps saluting. If you have an old leather flying jacket or a pair of goggles you should of course wear it/them. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when we sang it!

Sorry that was me to say how my chest has swelled patriotically upon reading these words.

Thanks a lot, Skyce. Now I have to find even bigger bras.

Thanks for that but it was difficult to concentrate with Robbie Williams singing about a rock DJ!

Scyce!

You Starlet you!

What fabulous words - I can just imagine every service man and woman quivering with emotion while you belted that out! Lanyards akimbo, whistles bright and puttees blancoed to stucco proportions!

Is there a recording? Was there a brass band or did the organist get his Diapasons up to Extra Violent? I would have loved to have been there, and lowered the truss for singing the bass bit...

One day, I'll try and get my old school hymn going public. They may be bringing out a recording, and then I'll collapse in an emotional heap and ask for it to be sung when I reach the other side of the grass!

We will fight them on the beaches

(of Spain)

We will fight them in the skies

(BA is better than Lufsthansa)

We will fight them on land

(They can't really afford Englands absurd property market anyway - who can ?)

But we will still buy their cars. In snobby droves.

"dipso fatso bingo asbo tesco" as they say in Latin. Indeed.

Doris dear, it's now the second half of January, you haven't said boo since August, I'm afraid I'm going to have to bump you off my blogroll. Let me know if you make a comeback.
